Cu Chi Tunnel Experience

Here’s my travel experience.

About 70 km from Ho Chi Minh City, there is a network of Cu Chi tunnels.

A Network of  tunnels ?? !!!

Yes !!!

These numerous tunnels bear witness to a bloody history. During the war with the US, the locals built a network of underground tunnels. Surprisingly the network was spread for about 250 km. The tunnels were so well constructed that they could hold military meetings, enough space for cooking meals, living, storing weapons and what not.

The US military was not aware of this. By the time they found out, the damage had been

done. This fighting spirit of the  Vietnamese people forced the United States to withdraw from the war. Ten years of war were going on. The unification of North and South Vietnam took place on April 30, 1975, and the city of Saigon was renamed Ho Chi Minh.

Today, the place attracts tourists as the ‘Cu Chi Tunnel Complex’. It has the status of a national monument. Experts from all over the world come to study these tunnels.

But, in my view, I would call this whole place a very special 'theme park'.

Anyone who comes to Ho Chi Minh City must visit here.

Millions of tourists visit these tunnels every year. The well informed guides take you around the place and through story telling explain  war.

You will find here mainly the hiding place of the soldiers, how they were trained, the underground kitchen, the living area, the storage room to keep arms and the ammunition  and  innovative ways to kill the enemy.

The complex also has an area where you can watch the documentary films and  a shooting range where for an extra cost you can fire these weapons.

Pls check the video of mine going inside the tunnel. Sorry for the quality but hope you will like it.
