maintaining the cheerful atmosphere !!!
You will hardly find a gloomy face here…….

- For an invigorating offbeat experience
- You come closer to nature and enjoy to the fullest
- You dare to do something different than usual
- Interesting events that young and old will love
- Enjoy delicious Maharashtrian meals
- Absolutely safe stay !!!
The spearhead of Camp Cherry Farm - Amol Khante puts forth his experience in few words ....
‘When a family with their children lives in tents, walks in the jungle, participates in
short treks, they are unknowingly exposed to a 'therapy'. The positive
experiences here helps to deepen their family bonding. '
So true….. You hardly get a chance to stay in a tent outside comfort zone with your family ??
Covid19 has been bothering all parents since last March. But it has definitely taught everyone to appreciate nature hard way. The campsite which has been hosting school trips since long have opened their gates for family outings with a slight rustic touch. The family package includes stay in the tent, activities, short treks and meals.
There has been a remarkable increase in the participation
of families, friends and groups for various day events, overnight camping and
night treks. The simplest of the events – the day camping has many takers. It
has been a hit among the families, senior citizens and groups. Their enthusiasm
is worth watching.
Now you need to book your seats in advance especially for
the Full Moon Trek which has been a great hit.
I realized this when I saw many families singing and
enjoying here during the overnight stay during camp-fire. A group of 20 people belonging to
Jain community were having fun alongside bonfire all night. Probably they came
in well prepared to enjoy to the fullest.
Some experiences worth sharing here..
- During the evening stroll alongside Khindsi lake for bird watching the binoculars came in handy. I was fortunate to spot Black bucks grazing on the other side of the lake.
- There is a telescope in the campsite and it was nice to see a group of children surrounding the equipment for observing the planets and stars at night.
- Participants – young and old, enjoyed singing on karaoke during lunch and dinner time.
- The breakfast is buffet-style, and the Camp Cherry Farm team was seen warmly and enthusiastically serving the delicacies.
Sindhuragiri Trek
The funny thing is that I had never trekked before coming
to camp so I said yes and the team felt a little weird (I thought so after
seeing their reaction). A good large group had gathered. 70-80 people were in the age group of 15-35. I mean, I was the 'Seniormost' 😜 to
participate and my friend Prasad was the second senior 😝!!!
Amol sir gave a briefing about the route. Once you started from the camp, you need to climb the hill just behind Karpur Bawdi to Trivikram Temple and from there walk along the hill behind Ambala Lake to Nagarjuna Temple and then descend to Khindsi Lake Dam. Then we had to walk to the camp along the edge of the lake. It was a 16 km. trek with an expected time of 6 hours to complete.
The route comprised of a short climb, walking in the
jungle, partially negotiating boulders on the way, then climbing down the slope.
We had to follow the leader in a single line.
How was our trek? What was the difficulty level?
Without going into this discussion, I will focus only on the positive takeaways
......👍
- All the participating boys and girls completed the trek and reached the camp safely at 5 in the morning
- I noticed on the first climb that a lot of people had come as a ‘fashion’, but once they started walking up the forest, they did with responsibility.
- There was no need for a torch in the moonlight, but this trek showed me how it affected my feet even if was wearing good shoes.
- There were many like me who were trekking for the first time. Some people did found this trek difficult but only due to their perseverance they completed it.
- Drink water with planning carefully while walking.
- It is very important to take breaks from time to time and move forward on time.
- Everyone was taking care as a team.
- Trek helps you to increase patience level and strengthens you mentally.
- Because of the disciplined nature, you will be satisfied with taking care of others on such a trek.
- The girls completed this trek only because of their perseverance.
- You have to be more careful when you go down the hill than you go up and everyone did it properly without any injuries.
- It is a night trek so it is important to take care and move forward as a team.
- The real task was crossing the rocky patch adjacent to the Khindsi lake….. slowly but surely everyone completed it.
You may have noticed .... I have intentionally used the
word ‘perseverance’ above.. it is the only magic 'word' ...the major reason for completing this trek.
Starting Kojagiri, Camp Cherry Farm have been organizing full moon treks every month. It has
been a big hit ever since.
Having experienced
this one, I would strongly recommend all enthusiasts to join on this night trek.
I came in contact with many participants and have been friends
with them ever since.
Now the discussion has started about where and when the
next trek will be ??!!!
Very recently they have successfully organized a lake side camping of 2 nights for a group of 100 participants of a reputed government organization.
I will regularly update you about the upcoming events at Camp Cherry Farm.
As I conclude, enjoy this Hindi song which clearly expresses the pleasure you get at a beautiful scenic place !!!
'Jo baat is jagah hai kahin par nahin'
What you get to enjoy in this place.....you won't find any where !!!
Hope you enjoyed the song 😀
Till then .....Cheers !!!
